A hike among lakes, light and wildlife, discovering the Val Piora

During the past weekend of June 26, L'ideatorio USI organised a hike in the splendid Val Piora, amidst breathtaking scenery and biodiversity, exploring one of the most spectacular valleys of the Canton Ticino.

A dozen University staff took part in the hike, to discover and admire the beauty of the Val Piora with its suggestive panoramic viewpoints and some delightful views of local wildlife. The hikers, accompanied by Giovanni Pellegri and Raffaele Peduzzi, walked along Lake Ritom through the nature path, and visited the Alpine Biology Centre, eventually climbing up towards Lake Cadagno to reach the mountain cabin for an overnight stay. The excursion continued the following day with a walk in the region - accompanied by the USI Sport Service - offering the participants a unique opportunity to capture wonderful pictures (available here).

4-5 September 2021: Vanishing glaciers. A weekend in the Val Bedretto (with a stop at the Gerein Pass, to observe the Chüeboden Glacier) to reflect on the climatic conditions of our planet and discover sustainable alternatives. Registration deadline: 30 July 2021

26 September 2021: Nature and literature. A walk through woods, rivers and mountain pastures, from Boscobello to the Valle della Piumogna, accompanied by poetry and the considerations of poetess Antonella Anedda. Registration deadline: 25 August 2021
